Re-entry permits: don't lose your extension at the airport
If you're on an extension of stay, leaving Thailand without a re-entry permit cancels it.
On this page
Who needs one
If your permission to stay comes from an extension (retirement, marriage, education, work), leaving Thailand without a re-entry permit cancels it. You'd have to start the visa process again.
Multiple-entry visas used within their validity (such as the DTV or Thailand Privilege) don't need one for each trip. Check your own stamp if you're unsure.
Cost
- Single re-entry: 1,000 THB
- Multiple re-entry: 3,800 THB (valid until your current extension ends)
Where
At your local immigration office before you travel, or at the immigration counter at major international airports before departure (allow extra time).
Never miss your own deadlines
Answer five quick questions and we'll list every date that applies to you: 90-day reports, extensions, re-entry permits and tax. Free to start.
Sources we checked
