Chiang Mai immigration office

Chiang Mai has two immigration offices, and which one you need depends on what you're doing.

Which Chiang Mai office handles which visa has changed more than once. If you're doing anything other than a 90-day report, check the office's Facebook page or call before you go.

How the queue works

  • For a 90-day report, get there before 10am. Most people are done in 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Extension queues are longer than 90-day queues, so for an extension, arrive before opening.

Tips

  • Avoid Monday mornings and the day after a public holiday. Tuesday and Wednesday mid-morning tend to be quietest.
  • Bring copies of everything. There are copy shops nearby, but queues for them build up too.
  • Grab drivers know both offices. Share the Google Maps pin to be sure you go to the right one.
